Listen to Chris Rea

Chris Rea - perhaps best known for his song 'Driving Home for Christmas' - passed away today. Because I've been listening to quite a few of his songs lately, it feels right to share some of my favourites here.

One of those songs is called Texas, from the album The Road to Hell. It's quite a cool, intense but understated track, with a great build-up - and I absolutely love it. We gotta get outta here!

Contrasting that intensity, Wired to the Moon from the album of the same name is a delicate, smooth and sweet song.

Chris Rea is one of those artists that I could pick just about any song from any album and instantly love it. Take 'Crack That Mould,' for example, from the album On the Beach. Just listen to that walking bass! Instantly I hear an addicting, smooth, irresistible track. Of course, talking about music doesn't do it any justice, it's just a token of appreciation for what I love. I highly recommend you go and listen to some of these tracks for yourself!

I suggest listening to albums like Wired to the Moon, The Road to Hell, Auberge and Dancing With Strangers. Frankly, just about any album of his is highly recommended.

Fool if You Think It's Over is another brilliant track, with some lyrics that resonate with me:

Fool if you think it's over
I'll tell you why
New born eyes always cry with pain
At the first look at the morning sun
Fool if you think it's over
It's just begun

If you love good music, listen to Chris Rea.

May he rest in peace.
